Pucked Love, the final sexy and emotional standalone in the NYT bestselling Pucked Series from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting, is available NOW!

PUCKEDLOVE_full_trim (1).jpg

As an NHL player, relationships haven’t been my thing. Shrouded in secrecy and speculation, they never last very long. But then that’s what happens when you require an NDA before the first date.

Until Charlene. She’s like a firefly. She’s elusive, and if you catch her she’ll burn bright, but keeping her trapped dulls her fire and dims her beauty.

I caught her. And as much as I might want to keep her, I’ll never put the lid on her jar. Not at the risk of losing her. So I've let her set the rules in our relationship.

But as long hidden secrets expose us both, I discover exactly how fragile Charlene is, and how much I need her.

We’re all broken. We’re all messed up. Some more than others. Me more than most.

Pucked Love Teaser 3 AN.jpg

Pucked Love by Helena Hunting was an emotional and intense story about two broken individuals who finally find their happiness within each other. Charlene and Darren's story was one that I'd been looking forward to since reading Pucked, and there were quite a few surprising moments that I didn't see coming. I was dying to know the story behind a few things that popped up in previous books, like the necklace. We were given answers to everything, but I feel that the path that the story took was an unexpected one. Pucked Love was definitely the most intense book of the series, but it still had some nice touches of humor and entertainment.

Darren absolutely made this story for me. He was such perfection, and I loved how patient and understanding he was with Charlene. His deep love for her was obvious long before the words were spoken out loud. Charlene's character frustrated me at times; while I understand where her reluctance was coming from, I just wanted her to wake up and see that there was an amazing man in front of her who was willing to give her everything he had. They had a lot to work through in terms of overcoming their dark pasts and finding a balance that wouldn't cause either one of them to lose themselves. I think that the author did a good job in bringing their issues to the forefront and resolving them in a way that was believable.

Pucked Love was well-written and flowed smoothly. I enjoyed the Prologue a lot and wished the reader was given more scenes from the beginning of the couple's relationship. Since the story takes place 2 years after they meet, it would have been nice to see them interact when things were still new between them. My favorite scenes where the whole gang was present. It was great catching up with each couple after they each got their HEAs. It was bittersweet to read this story since I've been a fan of this series since the start, but I think Hunting really wrapped things up in a great and satisfying way.

You’re turning twenty-six. It’s your champagne birthday, so we need to do something fun.” Violet bounces, making her boobs shake and my mimosa slosh perilously. “It should be themed! We can all wear leather chaps!” “Could you be any more cliché?” I roll my eyes. “Just to be clear, Darren doesn’t own chaps.” “Just a ball gag and a mask with no eye holes, according to Alex.” And we’re back to my sex life. I knew I was getting off so easy. I wonder if Darren is catching this kind of heat today. I seriously doubt it’s worse than what I’m getting since I don’t think his friends are likely to push his buttons, but I’ll have to ask when I speak to him next. I’m not sure when that will be, either. The message I sent about Gertrude was pretty straightforward and doesn’t necessarily require a response. Maybe I should’ve worded it differently. Sunny raises her hand, like we’re all still in middle school and she’s waiting her turn to speak. “Wouldn’t a mask with no eyeholes be dangerous? You wouldn’t be able to see where you’re going.” Her eyes widen, and she looks around the room. “And what’s a ball gag?” I honestly love that Sunny has grown up in this highly overinformed society and still manages to be innocent. “Yeah, Char, wouldn’t a mask with no eyeholes be dangerous?” Violet props her fist on her chin and smiles. “And please, do explain what a ball gag is.” “I’m not sure you really want the answer to that, Sunny.” Poppy gives me a look I can’t quite decipher. Sunny twirls her hair around her finger. “Why not?” “Where’s the harm in a little bondage-sex education? It’s not like Miller’s ever going to go out and buy either item for her. First of all, Alex would murder him, and secondly, I don’t think that’s Miller’s thing.” Sunny’s face lights up, and she does jazz hands. “Oh! I think I know what Miller’s thing is!” Lily grins. “Eating your cookie?” “He really likes to do that, a lot. When my belly gets too big I’ll have to watch from the mirror.” She gets a faraway look in her eyes. “But he has another thing! Kind of like how you and Randy are always getting it on in bathrooms, except I think it’s a bit more sanitary.” “And it doesn’t cause thousands of dollars of damage,” Violet adds. Lily throws her hands up in the air. “That sink was already falling off the wall. It’s not my fault it broke!” “That was one expensive orgasm,” I say. “And Randy says it was worth every penny.” Lily’s smile is devious as she bites her knuckle, then turns to Sunny. “Anyway, back to Miller’s thing.” Sunny wiggles around excitedly in her chair. “So Miller paints my toenails for me.” “Miller’s thing is painting your toenails?” “Yes. Well, no. I think he likes my toes.” Her fingers go to her lips, and she looks around the room, her cheeks flushing. “Say what now?” Violet asks. ”Sometimes he kisses them.” She covers her mouth with her palm and says something unintelligible. Violet sits forward in her chair. “Hold on a second, does Buck have a foot fetish?” “Um, I don’t know.” Sunny looks worried now. “Is that weird? Is it, like, mask with no eyeholes kind of weird?”

Author's note: Spin-Off-Series to my Born in Blood Series set in Las Vegas. You don't have to read the Born in Blood series to understand the book.

Review: 4 Stars!

Twisted Loyalties by Cora Reilly was a raw and gritty mafia story with just the right amount of angst. Leona and Fabiano's story was engaging and a great mix of romance and mob related themes. I had been itching for a good mafia story for a while, and this one hit the mark several times over.

I found that the characters were well developed and enjoyed learning more about them. I liked Leona's character; she had suffered through a lot over the course of her life, and still managed to keep moving forward. She frustrated me at times with the way she would weaken toward her parents, but I guess that was just a part of who she was. I do think she was a perfect match for Fabiano, and exactly what he needed in order to find his heart again. It will be clear to readers of the Born in Blood series that Fabiano is not the same boy that was depicted in those books. To say that his upbringing after his sisters left was difficult would be an understatement. I loved the way he slowly softened towards Leona and felt protective over her. The author did a great job with writing both characters and bringing their emotions to the surface. Both of them were born to less than ideal circumstances, to parents who failed them in every way. I think the author was wise in her decision to not rush the romance between Leona and Fabiano, because their connection felt authentic to me and it was great seeing it grow as the story went on.

I really enjoyed the story's pace and the plot as a whole. The violence was just right and never over the top. The emotional elements were well done and complimented the storyline. There was tons of drama but I was so glad to see that it stemmed from places of substance, instead of OW/OM. I am really glad to see that this is the first of a series, because there are a couple of characters who I would love to read more about. I recommend this story for anyone who enjoys a well-written and suspenseful mafia romance.

And now, with a promise to keep, he was going to make her disappear again…

REVIEW: Wow, what a thrilling and intense story this was. Neverland by Melissa Jane is a suspense-filled story of twisted obsession. I was so completely engrossed in the story, it was hard for me to put it down. Jane gives readers a fantastic plot that will thrill and devastate at the same time.

“My name is Dominic Salvatore and I’ll make sure you never forget me.”

I absolutely loved Monsters and was looking forward to reading this book as soon as I saw the blurb. The story goes back and forth between the past and the present, laying out Lucy's story in a way that keeps the reader guessing. The characters were really well written and multi-dimensional. The author tackled some extremely difficult subjects in this story, and did a great job exploring the themes without going overboard. There were moments that were absolutely heartbreaking to read. Lucy's dynamic with Dominic was so well written and was absolutely fascinating to read. Romeo was absolute perfection. Jane really suceeded in pulling me into the story, and I found myself fully immersed in their fictional world while reading.

“I found you. Now I get to keep you. Finders keepers.”

The plot of the story flowed really well and the pace was perfect. The writing was exceptionally good and captured the emotions of the characters brilliantly. The only thing that kept me from giving this book 5 stars was the story’s conclusion. I had really hoped that things would turn out differently for the characters. With the way things ended after everything they had gone through, I honestly couldn't fully enjoy the reading experience. That being said, not every reader will walk away from a story with the same viewpoint, so I really recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a dark and gritty thriller. Jane is an amazing storyteller and this story is one that will stay with you long after reading.
