Lethal Temptations by Janine Infante Bosco Tempted, #5 Publication Date: May 24, 2016 Genre: Adult, Contemporary Romance, MC Romance
Synopsis: BLACKIE My name is Blackie, I’m the vice president of the Satan’s Knights MC and I’m an addict. I’ve been trading one addiction for another for as long as I can remember. I make no apologies for my addictions, nor do I try to hide them. Until my latest addiction threatens to destroy not just me but her. For the first time I want to fight the need and not gravitate towards it. I try to deny it and not succumb to it but I’m a prisoner to her purity. I’m Satan’s soldier, a demon dressed in leather. She’s an angel, innocent and full of light, she’s my lace. Leather. Lace. Me. Her. A temptation so lethal neither of us may survive but, every demon craves an angel. Guide me to the light. Take me from the dark. Give me back my life. Let me share yours. They are the selfish words of an addict and they are my truth.
LACEY PARRISH My name is Lacey Parrish and I have a secret, one I’ve tried to deny for a long time, one I’ve tried to spare the world from. I am a manic-depressive. Just like my dad. Some days I’m high on life. Most days I try to escape it. People think they know me, they think they see me but the truth is no one knows who I really am. No one sees the real me… a broken girl with a mind that betrays her. Except Blackie. He’s my savior, the man who silences my maker. He’s my knight in shining armor, the man who puts my life before his. He’s my leather and I’m his lace. Two broken souls that have the power to heal one another. This is our story, an unapologetic tale full of temptations. A love story called Leather and Lace.REVIEW: 5 Lethally Sexy Stars Janine Infante Bosco completely blew me away with Lethal Temptations, book 5 of the Tempted series. This book absolutely tore me into pieces before putting me back together again. Bosco weaved a truly heartbreaking and emotional tale with Blackie and Lacey's story, one that will stay with me for a long time. She tells a story of struggle, redemption, forbidden love, and best of all, hope. This wasn't your typical story of two people fighting against the odds. There is forbidden love, and then there is Blackie and Lacey. These two had everything stacked against them, and the journey they took together was tumultuous, yet heartbreakingly beautiful. "They say everyone has a soulmate. And his broken soul belongs to mine." This author always does such an amazing job with character development. She doesn't just tell you about her characters, she makes you feel for them, laugh with them, and cry with them. Blackie and Lacey both had personal struggles that they battled in their own way, and I felt for both of them as they tried to push through them. We were given glimpses of Blackie and Lacey in the prior books, but I had no idea how deep both of their inner turmoil ran until I began reading their story. Blackie was a man with a tragic past, someone who struggled immensely and still continues to struggle. His entire existence in consumed with guilt, and he feels that the last thing he deserves is someone as pure and innocent as Lacey. He tries to distance himself from her, believing that he would only taint her goodness by being near her. He punishes himself with the lifestyle he leads, and finds himself disintegrating further with each passing day. Reading about his past and what brought him to the point he is at now was so heart-wrenching. Through all his pain, Lacey was his only source of light. "When she smiled at me, when she laughed with me, I felt like fighting instead of quitting, living instead of dying." Lacey completely stole my heart from the first time she was introduced in this series. She had her own demons to fight against, and unlike Blackie, who wore his pain on the surface for the world to see, she hid hers beneath a bright smile and cheerful demeanor. She felt a connection to Blackie that was undeniable, as he was the one person who saw the real her. "He's the only one in this world who has the power to see me and accept me. He'll take me any way I am. Imperfections and all." I can't remember the last time I rooted so hard for a couple to make it. The tension between the two of them was so palpable that as the reader, I could feel it. They shared a connection that their circumstances could not break. The two of them were so different, yet so alike, two fractured souls who needed something to make them whole again. The author did a great job in creating a strong bond between Blackie and Lacey, a connection that went beyond the physical into something deeper, more intense. Between that and their scorching hot chemistry, the intimacy between them was absolutely explosive. "Leather. Lace. Me. Her. A love story no one saw coming but one that was perfect." Bosco tackled the extremely difficult subjects of addiction and mental illness with accuracy and believability, a feat that is hard for many to accomplish. Through stellar storytelling, she wrote about two people who fought not only for each other but for themselves as individuals. There were so many heartbreaking moments in the story, but there was always the hope that the light would overtake the darkness. As with the other books in this series, the author created a storyline in Lethal Temptations that was both suspenseful and emotionally captivating. I love the way she balances the action and romance, giving you just enough of each to create the perfect story. The writing was fantastic, leaving me hanging on to every word and wanting more even after reading the final words. This series is an absolute must-read, and I will miss all of these characters so much.
A LETTER FROM THE AUTHORDear Readers, Blackie and Lacey’s love is not an easy story. It’s not about fluff and if you’re looking to escape the reality of the world, this book is not for you. Lethal Temptations is true to its title and while there is a love story between the hero and heroine there is an individual story being told about each character. Blackie is a drug addict. Lacey is mentally ill. They each suffer with the demons that haunt them. Both issues are very much alive in our world and most of us will experience the torment of addiction and, or, mental illness. If not in ourselves than possibly through the people we love. The smiling person beside you who appears perfect may be suffering in silence, afraid of what society will say or more than that, afraid of admitting their truth. If you or someone you love suffers from addiction or mental illness, it’s never too late to find your voice and seek help. My wish for those in need is that they find hope within the pages of Lethal Temptations because, you’re temptations are only lethal if you allow them to be. Be heard. Your voice is your weapon against the things that drag you down. May is mental health awareness month, let’s turn society around and make it our bitch and save the fractured souls that struggle on a daily basis. Below you will find links on both addiction and mental health. Thank you for reading, Janine
-The Keith Milano Memorial Fund was established to help raise awareness about the devastating and deadly disease that is mental illness. Keith’s spirit and laughter is kept alive through our efforts to increase awareness about mental illness and to raise money for education and imperative research. Keith often struggled with society’s perception of mental illness. Our hope is that by having the strength to say that Keith was “Bipolar” we can strip away the stigma and help others to be more open about their disease.
